Collaborators Aloyse Blair and Janelle Pietrzak combine their expertise in performance art and photography to create haunting images of spontaneous spiritual beauty. These site specific performances inspire a dance between play and choreographed rituals. The images created from these performances are like frozen films, utilizing long exposure photography to compress time and space into a single image. These photographs go beyond serving Janelle and Aloyse as documentation, but are the work itself. They have collaborated for over a decade, developing a unique language. They come together in rural and urban spaces to explore the possibilities inspired by each location. They continue to do this work as an ongoing act of friendship and collaboration, inspiring each other to progress in their work as performance art photographers.
